Costa Esuri Golf Club

Costa Esuri Golf Club, rated as a Gold Course of Aymerich Golf Management, is part of Costa Esuri Golf Resort, located in Ayamonte, in the heart of the Spanish Algarve. Two 18-hole courses, and a magnificent hotel resort, comprises the best choice for your golf in Costa de la Luz and in the East of the Algarve.

Opened in March 2007, Costa Esuri West is a superb riverside parkland course but with a real links golf feel. The prevailing wind off the Guadiana river brings added challenge to the layout but the fairways are wide and fair. With a long term ambition to host tour events, the course is long and challenging but without being a slog. The East course, opened Summer 2008, provides a more benign ‘holiday golf’ experience however for those without ambitions of making the pro circuit!

The front nine on Costa Esuri West runs back & forth alongside the Guadiana River (the border between the Eastern Algarve & Spain) and offers some great views. The back nine is more inland and a little more traditional with more water features to challenge every level of golfer. Stroke index 1 is currently the par 3 12th, a longish (169 metres from the yellow) carry across water. An enjoyable course.

Don’t be put off by the fact that the Costa Esuri courses are situated in a large residential development. The housing only borders the west course down one side and does not cut in to any of the fairways. This gives a round at Costa Esuri West a real wide open feel and demonstrates the designer’s understanding of what is required to merge a great golf course with much needed infrastructure.

When you finish your round at Costa Esuri Golf Club, you can relax and unwind in the clubhouse which has a large bar area and a sun terrace overlooking the river and substantial practice area. The food is excellent in the clubhouse, especially the breakfast, so arrive early if you are playing in the morning!
